They tell me of my future
As though its very near
They claim my desire for freedom
Will very soon be here
They say that they are for me
That for my tribe they wish the best
If that is true dear white man
Then why do you move my people west?
At first we tried to love you
We taught you of our ways
Alas my friends you deceived us
We live within your maze.
The freedom song for the red man
Is as fragile as the wings of a bird
The man without a voice
Is seldom ever heard.
You talk of your own justice
And how this was meant to be
I cannot accept this injustice
For I shall never let you forget me.
You appear to believe that you’re flawless
That you’ve safely made it through
But if those hardships ever arise again
I swear I’ll never help you.
Please don’t say you’re sorry
Please don’t add to the lies
You’ve already done so much damage
That you will never hear our cries.
The freedom song for the red man
Seems as fragile as the wings of a bird
And the man without a voice
Is never ever heard.
